From Orphan to Army Veteran
Born in 1927, Salvatore was an orphan until he was 14. He joined the Army because "it gave him a home." Salvatore’s list of accomplishments and community service is extensive. He is the oldest member of the First Company Governor’s Foot Guard and a life member of the 43rd Infantry Division Veteran’s Association, VFW Post 2138 and Korean War Veteran’s Association. He is a member of the Korean Chapter of the 169th Infantry Veterans, Washington Lodge 81 of the Connecticut Freemasons, and Shriners. As a member of the American Legion Post 105 Funeral
Honor Guard, Salvatore has taken part in more than 2,200 funeral details. It was a pleasure to build him a ramp so that he could exit his home.
